A short build period can give a project useful momentum. It can also create confusion if “complete infrastructure” means something different to the client and the delivery team.
The scope needs to describe the systems, assets and workflows that will be built, improved or retained. The timeframe should be connected to the actual work and the customer’s responsibilities.
Begin with the assessment
Review the message, assets, accounts, tools and operating processes. Decide what can be reused and what needs attention. The starting position changes the work required.
Avoid treating every business as an empty canvas. Existing material and relationships can contain useful value, even when the overall setup is fragmented.
Agree the dependencies
Messaging informs identity and content. The website needs approved material. Integrations need account access and agreed rules. Campaigns need a destination and an enquiry owner.
Make these dependencies visible in the plan. A delayed decision can affect several later tasks. The project should have a practical way to resolve questions rather than quietly accumulating unfinished work.

Define the customer inputs
Identify who approves the message, supplies evidence, grants account access and reviews the website. Set sensible review points and explain what is needed at each one.
The customer should not receive an undifferentiated request for everything at the beginning. Group inputs around the decisions they support.
Test before handover
Acceptance should include more than appearance. Test forms, records, notifications, CRM stages, campaign connections and reporting where they are in scope. Check account ownership and the team’s ability to perform routine tasks.
Record open issues with owners and dates. Distinguish a completed deliverable from one that is still waiting for a material dependency.
Define what follows
The build is the establishment of the system. Ongoing operation involves publishing, campaigns, follow-up support, review and improvement. Agree who will perform that work afterwards.
A clear scope makes the delivery window credible. It also gives the business a useful basis for assessing what has been handed over.
